Introduction
While the majority of my artistic practice is based in embroidery, the preparatory and research I do before I begin stitching often includes photography and drawing. It took me a long time to understand the impulse I had to take photos, but in laying out a few years of documentation I realized that the images I was capturing centered around abandon, sparse and empty spaces, the locations where I would imagine a lot of the ‘ghosts’ that I make out of textiles would inhabit, hiding at the edges of the frames.
I’ve worked to organize and add some order to the number of photographs I’ve taken to hopefully provide some more insight into my creative practice and my thoughts as an artist.
